Devotional: I’m God’s Cup

Jeremiah 18 gives us an image of how God sees His people. The prophet visits a potter’s house, and sees sees him mold clay into a pot. God says, “Can I not do with my people as a potter does to the clay?” The potter is taking past blemishes, dents, and imperfections, and is making something new and useful and beautiful. When we’re in God’s hands, He can make us into HIs vessels, His instruments, His cups.  

Questions For Meditation

1. Why is it important for God to form us? 
2. What things form us instead of God’s Word and God’s hands? 
3. What has formed you in the past, and what can you do to have God form you in a new way now? 
4. What are the things we get filled with in the world? 
5. Why does God use empty vessels and cups? 
6. What things does God want to fill us with?
