Devotional: Chase Away the Birds

Just as hackers poison and steal our data in an effort to take from us and gain for themselves, the enemy tries to hack us spiritually. Spiritual hacking takes place when the Devil gains access to the private places that were created for our communion and blessing from God. Genesis 15 is a time of communion between Abram and God. Abram is giving God an offering, and God is reemphasizing His promise to Abram. However, verse 11 says that “birds of prey” came to take the offering, but that Moses chased them away.

1. What are birds of prey?
2. Why was it important for Abram to chase the birds of prey away? 
3. What was the difference between the way Abram and Lot looked at things? 
4. How can we and should we look at things that come up in our lives? Think about the difference between Abram and Lot and how you can apply that to your life. 
5. What are we supposed to guard in our lives from the birds of prey? 
6. What will your life look like when you  guard the private places from the birds of prey?  
7. What are the birds of prey in your life?
