Jesus made a journey to earth so that we could make a journey to Him. Following God on a journey is a pattern we see all throughout the Bible. In Genesis 12, God told Abraham to leave his country and to follow Him. In Psalm 114, it details the people of Israel leaving Egypt to follow Moses as He followed God. Jesus told His disciples, ‘Come, follow me.” As Christians, we are merely passing through this earth, it is not our home. Instead, our true home, our true place of attachment, comfort, and security, is found in the journey of following Jesus. 

Questions for Meditation

  1. What does it mean when it says Jesus came to rule? 
  2. How is Jesus’ ruling authority different from the world’s? 
  3. Why was Herod threatened? 
  4. Why do we not let God take over as ruler sometimes? 
  5. In what ways does God guide us? 
  6. What ways can God guide you specifically in your life this week?
